Ceremonies written
around you
For the days you’ll never forget, and the goodbyes that deserve to be beautiful — personal ceremonies, told in your words.
Welcome
Every person has a story.
Every life leaves something behind.
Hello — I’m Debbie Bird, an independent celebrant based in [Town]. As a celebrant, I have the privilege of standing alongside people at some of the most meaningful moments in their lives — and although those occasions can be very different, they have something important in common. They are about people: the relationships we build, the memories we make, the love we give and receive, and the stories that connect us to one another.
My role is never to tell you what these moments should look or feel like. It is to listen — to understand what matters to you, and to create something genuine and personal that reflects the people at the heart of the occasion, rather than following a formula. Every family has its own traditions, its own humour, its own language and its own way of showing love. Your ceremony should too.

From first hello to the day itself
A first chat
We start with a relaxed, no-obligation conversation — by phone, video or over a cuppa — to see if I’m the right fit for you.
Getting to know you
I’ll listen — properly. Your stories, your people, the things that matter. This is where your ceremony really begins.
Writing & refining
I write every word from scratch, then share the draft with you. We’ll shape it together until it feels exactly right.
The day itself
I arrive early, calm and prepared, and deliver your ceremony with warmth — so you can simply be present in the moment.
“My role is not to tell you what these moments should look or feel like.
It is to listen.”
Hello, I’m Debbie
I became a celebrant because I believe the biggest moments in life deserve more than something off the shelf. [A sentence about your background — what you did before, and what led you here.]
I’m trained and insured as an independent celebrant [with training body / membership, e.g. a member of the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants], and I’ve stood beside families on their happiest days and their hardest ones. Every life, however long or short, leaves something behind — and being trusted to help tell that story is a privilege I never take lightly.
When I’m not writing ceremonies you’ll usually find me [something warm and human — walking the dog, in the garden, singing badly in the kitchen]. If you’d like to know whether we’d click — the first chat is always free, and the kettle is always on.
From families I’ve stood beside

The ceremony
We simply make space
for what is here
For the words that need to be spoken.
For the memories that deserve to be shared.
For the promises that are being made.
And, most importantly, for the people
who have brought us together.
Whether the day is filled with joy, tenderness, laughter, reflection — or a mixture of all of these — there is no right or wrong way to feel. My hope is that your ceremony gives you a moment to pause, to be present, and to recognise the significance of this chapter in your story.
Let’s find the right words, together
Whatever you’re planning — or facing — the first conversation is free, friendly and without obligation.
If you are arranging a funeral: I know these days are heavy, and time feels short. Please do simply pick up the phone — whatever the hour, I will always make time to talk.
